Sherborne Qatar is the only overseas school operated by the historic and distinguished British school founded in 1550 under a royal charter. Our ethos, outlook and standards are based on those of Sherborne School and we intend to build successfully, so that our pupils can fulfill their ambitions. Sherborne Qatar caters for two constituencies: the international community, drawn from across the whole world, who are contributing to the development of Qatar; and members of the Qatari community, who are keen to provide their children with the best British education possible. Our curriculum is delivered in English: therefore, to enjoy and gain access to it, our pupils must have a high level of written and spoken English. Sherborne Qatar is a leading member of Qatar's Supreme Education Council's Outstanding Schools Programme, and the only British independent school to have been invited to participate in this prestigious programme. In addition to membership of COBIS, Sherborne Qatar is part of BSME and is a BSO school. The Preparatory School is a member of IAPS. We provide a rich education experience which focuses on the intellectual, the creative, the emotional and the practical talents of each child. We want to ensure that pupils learn the value of kindness, respect, manners, concern for others and service to the community. We aim to produce happy children who are independent thinkers, with the ability to adapt and improve and who are prepared to engage fully in their learning. We wish them to become good communicators by speaking and listening to each other, and by appreciating each other's company. We encourage pupils to become lifelong learners, able to adapt to the amazing advances and changes that are certain to happen in their lifetimes. In the Preparatory School we follow an enhanced National Curriculum. In the Senior School, pupils are prepared for (I)GCSE examinations using the Cambridge International Examinations and Edexcel specifications. In Sixth Form, we follow courses leading to the CIE and Edexcel (I)AS and (I)A Level examinations. Our whole curriculum, which goes beyond examined subjects, has as its clear aim to give our pupils every opportunity to place themselves in a strong position for entry into the major universities of the world, in Europe and the United States, as well as in Qatar. At all levels, the academic programme at Sherborne Qatar is rounded out with sport, drama, music and art. Sherborne Qatar employs well-qualified and suitably experienced teachers, mainly from the UK, who are familiar with the National Curriculum, (I)GCSE specifications and A Level requirements. Our members of staff, both teaching and support, are dedicated to Sherborne Qatar's all-inclusive education and the development of its pupils. |
