INTI International College Penang Malaysia



INTI International College Penang (IICP) is located on 36 acres of beautiful parkland within the Bukit Jambul educational township. The College was set up in 1994 with a strong backing from the State Government to promote Penang as a regional centre of excellence in quality education.

As part of the INTI Group of Colleges, IICP shares the Group's mission of providing quality education that will enrich every student's intellectual, cultural and social life. Our vision for 2010 is to develop into a forward-looking, internationalised e-campus with emphasis on holistic education.

Over the years the College has established a reputation for quality education, offering a wide range of internationally accredited programmes at Matriculation, Diploma and Degree levels. American University Program

Students who have completed their secondary school education are eligible to join this program without having to study any pre-university courses as a pre-requisite. This program allows students to complete most of their general education and major requirements in Malaysia. After completing five to seven semesters at INTI College, a student can transfer to a university in the United States or Canada to complete the remainder of his major requirements and obtain a bachelor degree.


Admission requirements

Holders of SPM, O-Level or other equivalent qualifications.

Holders of STPM, A-Level, UEC, Australian Matriculation, Canadian Pre-University or other equivalent qualifications.
Diploma in Accounting & Finance


Accounting

This programme is designed for students who have decided on a professional accountancy career. Accountants are involved in a wide variety of occupations related to all aspects of financial management within both the private and public sectors. A professional accounting training is regarded not only as a career in its own right, but also as the premier training route for those interested in pursuing a career in general management. The programme offers a sound foundation in accountancy, with a range of options, which reflect the interests and expertise of accounting and finance staff and their academic, commercial and industrial experience. It also offers certain exemptions in the examinations of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA).


Finance

This programme is designed primarily for students who have decided on a financial management career path. Knowledge in financial management is vital in a wide variety of occupations within both the private and public sectors. For example, a career in banking, stockbroking, investment, insurance companies, financial institution and financial management functions in any business firm. A financial management training is regarded not only as a career in its own right, but also as the premier training route for those interested in pursuing a career in general management. The programme offers a sound foundation in financial management, with a range of options, which reflect the interests and expertise of accounting and finance staff and their academic, commercial and industrial experience. These options include financial markets and institutions, investment, derivatives markets, corporate finance, international financial management and finance of international trade.
Diploma in Business Administration & Marketing


Business Administration

This programme is designed to meet individual career and industry need. It provides students with the appropriate professional skills and as an essential link principles, concepts and applications of accounting, finance, marketing and management. The courses are designed to develop students leadership and interpersonal skills, which are necessary for a successful career, and to ensure that graduates are well versed to communicate in this new era of information and are equipped with managerial skills and high ethics.


Marketing

This programme is designed for students who plan to obtain a career in the rapid growing and challenging marketing world. It is concerned with getting products and services from producers to consumers. The core programme of study covers decision-making about product design and quality, pricing, advertising, selling and distribution. Furthermore, the programme allows students to gain knowledge in international marketing, market and marketing research, and sales management. The programme allows for specialization while preparing students for an interesting and rewarding career through a creative mix of academic study, skills development and practical assignments.


Advanced Diploma in Accounting


The Advanced Diploma in Accounting is offered in collaboration with TAFE NSW. It prepares students for a career in Accounting. Students will learn Financial Management, Auditing, Management Accounting, Financial Accounting, Company Accounting, Taxation, Business Law and Company Law. They will also learn to produce and analyze reports and financial statements. Upon successful completion of the program, students will be conferred the TAFE NSW Advanced Diploma in Accounting.

TAFE NSW is Australia's largest provider of the technical and vocational education. It provides 40 percent of Australia's technical training and caters to over 400,000 local and international students annually. Courses offered are practical and train students for specific jobs, leading to various levels of awards including: Advanced Diplomas, Diplomas and Certificate Level I - IV.

Admission requirements

Admission to the Advanced Diploma in Accounting is based on the SPM, GCS 'O' Level, SM3 or equivalent qualification. Forecast or Trial Examination results are accepted for provisional admission.

SPM: 3 credits and 2 passes.

GCS 'O' Level: Passes in English, Mathematics and 2 other academic subjects.

SM3: English C5, Mathematics C6 and passes in 3 other academic subjects.



Features of the Program

The program commences in February/July and is conducted full time over 4 semester (2 years).

Students may exit the program for employment at the Certificate or Advanced Certificate level.

It is modular and fully supported with course handbooks and study materials from OTEN, the distance education arm of TAFE NSW.

Certificate in Information Technology & Computing (CITC)


Students who have completed their secondary school education are eligible to join this programme. This programme has been designed for students aspiring to have a successful career in, or related to, different branches of computing and information technology. Upon successful completion, a student may proceed to study for a computing-related degree or seek gainful employment in the industry.
Diploma in Computer Science

Upon completion of the Diploma, students can pursue the final year of their degree study in any of our partner universities.

Computer Science is the study of the branch of knowledge on how precise computation and manual daily tasks can be reliably and efficiently performed by machines, thus allowing the human race more creative and leisurely pursuits. Computer Science embodies the whole gamut of information from the production of information to its maintenance, presentations, multifaceted utilisation, and dissemination via networks and satellites. The programme aims to produce professional who are able to respond to a rapid changing technological and commercial environment, as well as to meet the continuing demand from industries for graduates with specialist knowledge of the many branches of computer science.


Diploma in Computer Engineering


Computer Engineering is concerned with the design and construction of reliable and efficient computer-based systems. It is especially relevant to systems where software is used to control the interaction between a computer-based system and the real world. As computer technology is applied to an ever-widening range of applications, it is becoming increasingly important to have engineers who understand both hardware and software, and their interaction, to build the next generation of computer-based systems. For students who successfully complete this programme, they will receive a diploma certificate with clear concept on the working principle within and between computers, or even the application of computers. Software writing and understanding of hardware construction are essential knowledge. They will also be able to pursue their degree studies in any of the UK and Australian universities to obtain a degree in Computer System Engineering or other related majors.


New South Wales Higher School Certificate (NSW HSC)


NSW HSC is the final year matriculation program in New South Wales, Australia. This university entrance qualification is accepted by all universities in Australia, New Zealand and many universities in the United Kingdom, United States, Canada, India and all local private universities. The Higher School Certificate, issued by the Board of Studies, New South Wales, is hence internationally recognized.

The course commences in January and is conducted over 10 months.

A wide range of subjects is available in Science, Commerce or Arts.

Students may combine subjects from different streams for broader options in tertiary studies.

The Assessment System - 50% Internal Assessment based on course work and 50% on a Final External Examination.

Admission requirements

Entry to the HSC program is based on the SPM, GCE 'O' Level, Senior Middle Three or equivalent qualifications. Forecast or Trial Examination results are accepted for provisional admission.

An applicant should possess five credits with total aggregate of 26 or less, inclusive of Mathematics, English and three other academic subjects.

Students who do not have the required grade in English are required to enroll for the Intensive English course at INTI International College Penang prior to the commencement of HSC program.

Intensive English Programme (IEP)

This program is designed for student who lacks proficiency in the English Language. This 15-20 hour per week program concentrates on:

The Intensive English Program sessions begin December, April and August. Currently this program is only offered to students doing the American University Program (AUP). Students who register for the Intensive English have to take a placement test. Progress is regularly assessed through tests and assignments.

English Improvement Program (EIP)

This 3 level General English Program is designed for students who wish to proceed to regular academic programs at undergraduate level. Each level is for duration of 15 weeks within 30 hours of study per week. This program covers different degrees of intensively and depth at each level. The pre intermediate level provides for basic vocabulary, grammar and language needs. At the higher levels, the students are exposed to a wider range of situations and learn more complex language skills. The sessions for the EIP begin in December, April & August. Students who sign up for this program will be assigned to the appropriate level on the basis of the results of an English placement test at the time of entry to the college. Upon successful completion of each of the above levels, student may request for a certificate of attendance.


Hostel (International House)


IICP offers on-campus hostel accommodation to both male and female students. The International House Complex, which is located within the lush greenery and landscaped gardens of the campus, provides students with cosy, convenient and affordable accommodation. Students save precious time commuting to classes as the complex is within easy walking access to all College facilities.
