Teacher/Pupil ratio 1:5 Braeburn Kisumu International School (BKIS) is nestled amidst colourful bougainvilleas in the leafy suburbs of Milimani in Kisumu City overlooking the serene ambience of Lake Victoria.

The school follows the National Curriculum of England and Wales from Pre-crèche (18 months) through to Year 11 (16 years) when the students take Cambridge International Examination Board IGCSE examinations. In addition to academic life, BKIS ensures that sports and co-curricular activities are an integral part of school life and so pupils are exposed to a wide range of sports as well as activities like Scouts, President's Award, Amnesty International, EAMUN and Tae Kwondo helping to form the basis for a life-long love of an activity. Music is also popular at BKIS with many pupils working towards ABRSM examinations, for which our school is an examination centre. Being a small school we are particularly proud of the fact that everyone in the school gets involved in school productions helping to develop a passion for the stage.

As an international school we are eager to ensure that we do provide a true international education as we celebrate number of global initiatives such as World Book Day, World Francophone Day, to name just a couple, in addition to celebrating Diwali, Thanksgiving, Christmas and other cultural celebrations as they fall within the school year.

Kisumu is a small community away from the big city life of Kenya’s capital and BKIS is a focal point for families and friends as we have numerous whole family activities throughout the year including family picnics as well as dinner dances and murder mystery evenings organised by our very active parent teacher group.

This supportive community spirit, coupled with a highly qualified and experienced teaching team, ensures that BKIS pupils not only achieve highly academically but also have fun on their journey to success.
