American College Dublin

American College Dublin was established in 1993 as a non-profit educational trust by Lynn University, Boca Raton, Florida, USA. Its objective is to provide quality international education for students from all over the world by combining the excellent traditions of the American and Irish educational systems. The College's mission is to help students benefit fully from their third level studies by providing a learning environment in which they can develop their intellectual, social and professional skills.
The educational experience offered by ACD is unique in that students learn in a progressive, interactive way. Full-time degree students take six subjects per semester while National Certificate students take 5 subjects per semester. Students are awarded 5 credits per subject successfully completed. To graduate with a BA degree students must attain 200 credits while they require 100 credits to obtain the National Certificate in Humanities.
During the semester, extensive continuous assessment is used to ensure progress is maintained throughout. Class sizes are small which allows for greater interaction between students and lecturers. Students are encouraged to question and to discuss issues which leads to a more dynamic learning experience.
Most courses offered at ACD require an internship. This offers students the opportunity to gain practical experience in the areas they have been studying.  This practical initiation into the workplace may be critical when they are looking for their first job. ACD has developed links with a wide range of Irish and international companies and organisations, and actively assists students to find suitable internships through the help of the Placement Officer
