The school currently offers classes from Foundation Stage 1 to Year 12, and will add a grade level each year up to Year 13. Students are currently predominantly of Egyptian nationality, and the school expects to see an increasing number of expatriate families joining in the future. English is the language of instruction, with Arabic being taught from FS 1 and French from Year 3. The curriculum is further enriched by an English as a Second Language (ESL) programme, and a strong Learning Support programme is in operation. An active Student Council has developed, with students demonstrating enthusiastic interest in the daily life of the school. A diverse after-school programme is also in place. The Secondary School curriculum includes English, mathematics, science, history, geography, art, music, ICT, PE, French, business studies, economics, drama, design technology and Arabic. The new facilities are continuing to develop. The main classroom and administration building is able to accommodate up to 1500 students. There is a floodlit playing field, a spacious, sheltered quadrangle, a junior playground and an Olympic-sized swimming pool, sports hall, courts and an all-weather athletics track. A state-of-the-art performing arts theatre is due for completion in the next school year. The school is located 20 kilometres from the centre of downtown Cairo, and will continue to see its surrounding community growing rapidly over the coming years as New Cairo develops further. A comprehensive bus service is provided and students and teachers are transported to and from school from all over the city. Students are admitted on the basis of their ability to profit from the school’s educational programme, with previous student records and a testing programme being utilized to ensure appropriate placement. |
