Learning Support Programme
The American International School in Egypt (AISE), part of the Educational Services Overseas Limited (ESOL) group, has been one of Egypt’s leading schools since it opened in 1990. The school provides a challenging American and international college-preparatory education that empowers students to become critical, independent thinkers with skills for dynamic participation in a changing, global society.
The full K-12 American curriculum is supported by American textbooks and resources and is taught in English by over 120 certified North American teachers. It is based on US national standards and is designed to prepare students for entry into highly competitive colleges in the United States, Canada, Europe, the Middle East, and beyond.
Qualified students in grades 11 and 12 can earn a full International Baccalaureate Diploma.
The new 51, 000 square meter campus in New Cairo City is 20 minutes from Maadi or Heliopolis and is accessible from Cairo’s other major population centers. Facilities include spacious air-conditioned classrooms, a two-storey library and media center, state-of-the-art science and computer laboratories, art and photography studios, a professional theater, and band and vocal music rehearsal and performance rooms. Sports facilities include playgrounds, outdoor courts, and an Olympic-sized cushioned running track that circles a regulation-size soccer field. The school’s semi-Olympic-sized indoor-outdoor swimming pool and air-conditioned gymnasium were completed in August 2008.
Approximately 80% of students are Egyptian, 10% are North American, and the remaining 10% come from over 40 countries. The resulting environment is American with an international feel.
Amid other AISE classrooms, the Learning Support Center (LSC) offers individualized educational support to students experiencing mild learning difficulties and significant gaps between their levels of ability and achievement. LSC staff members are professionals with specialized credentials and expertise in areas of special-needs education.
AISE opened a new branch campus in Cairo's western suburbs in September 2009. AISE-West is built on a 31, 000 square meter plot of land in the Cairo suburb of Sheikh Zayed City. The school opened with kindergarten through grade 9 in 2009-10 and will add grades 10, 11, 12 over the course of the following three years.
