Language of Instruction English The Western International School of Shanghai (WISS) has been inspiring young people from around the world for 10 years. Our diverse and compassionate community is unique and provides the ideal environment for students to explore their passions, to develop holistically and to succeed. We are authorised to offer the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme, Middle Years Programme, Diploma Programme and we are a Candidate school for the Career-related Programme. Our goal is for each child to enter the world as a well-balanced global citizen with a desire to contribute to the future as a leader. WISS has one of the largest International School campuses in Shanghai with both grass and Astroturf football fields, a running track, basketball courts, a gymnasium equipped with a rock climbing wall, two swimming pools, art studios, a 500 seat theatre, two cafes, science laboratories, music studios, dance studios, a community room, and a purpose-built facility for early years learners - as well as open-plan, bright classrooms, and a glass-walled library with areas for Early Years, Primary and Secondary.. In Primary, there is The Jungle for science and cooking as well as the Da Vinci Workshop. WISS is also home to world-class academies, such as the ISTA Performing Arts Academy and the Stoke City FC Football Academy. Our community service programmes enable our young people to help others and by doing so acquire a greater understanding of what it means to be an inspiration to those around them. WISS prizes academic achievement, communication, holistic learning and intercultural awareness.
