St Mark's Mission Statement

St Mark's aims to foster growth in character and to develop a set of values and skills by teaching and example in a Christian setting through all aspects of School life. The School motto is “Seek Truth and Wisdom”.

A School of the ASC

St Mark’s is a school of the Anglican Schools Commission. As centres of excellence in teaching and learning pastoral care worship and service the schools of the Anglican Schools Commission are distinctively Christian communities fulfilling the Gospel imperative to teach the faith and nurture the young. The ASC's purpose is to establish and support low-fee Anglican systemic schools in Western Australia which provide a high quality socially inclusive caring Christian education.

Academic Scholarships

As a way of encouraging excellence in education and rewarding high achievement each year the School Council offers two full and two half scholarships in Year 7 and one full and one half Scholarship in Year 10. The current testing program used by the School is the Australian Council for Education Research (ACER) Cooperative Scholarship Testing Program (CSTP). Scholarships are awarded for the students’ entire Secondary School career at St Mark’s subject to satisfactory progress. Values Statement

The Christian values of the School are central to all of this and the two great commandments to love God and to love one’s neighbour as oneself underpin the strong relationships between students parents and staff. This ethos permeates the fabric of the St Mark’s community creating a safe and happy place to work and learn. The School has identified a set of five values that reflect the Christian setting of the School. These values are underpinned by the Two Great Commandments as well as the School’s Mission Statement and are factored into all policy development and processes within the School. School Curriculum

St Mark's curriculum complies with the requirements of the Curriculum Framework for Kindergarten to Year 12 Education in Western Australia. The School's rich curriculum is the total of all activities both formal and informal which take place inside and outside the classroom and before and after the hours of normal instruction. The School endeavours to cater for children with a wide range of abilities through academic extension and support.

Christian Ethos

St Mark’s provides families with the opportunity of an education based on Christian practice and faith. The School is related to the local parishes and community and practices the Christian belief through: • Care and concern for each individual member of the total school community. • Care and concern for the wider community. • Development and implementation of its educational program based on the Christian faith and incorporating a strong philosophy and practice of pastoral care. Announcements:

St Mark’s Anglican Community School was established in 1986 on a spacious 11 hectare site in the coastal suburb of Hillarys. The School’s excellent facilities generous playing fields and open well kept grounds add significantly to the local beachside community. St Mark’s is an affordable coeducational school with student numbers of 1 from Kindergarten to Year 12. With an enthusiastic Parents and Friends’ Association old Scholars’ Association and Church community st Mark’s is an exciting supportive and caring environment.
