About St Andrew's

St Andrew’s School was established in 1850. It is a leading independent co-educational primary school providing excellence in education from the early years to Year 7. We offer a nurturing environment which encourages happy and successful learning. We focus on the critical skills of numeracy and literacy within an innovative and imaginative curriculum. Our programmes provide a framework which will equip each student with the skills to enjoy a lifetime of discovery and learning. We listen to our parents and encourage them to take an active part in the life of our School. Our teachers staff and parents work in partnership to enrich the experiences of the children and sustain our community.

Teaching & Learning

At St Andrew’s School we believe that the greatest learning occurs within a teacher/student relationship of mutual trust and respect. The individual learning styles of our students are sensitively and imaginatively supported. Building on their ELC experience children in Reception through to Year 7 focus on the Areas of Learning using the International Baccalaureate Primary Years and Middle Years frameworks. Students have the opportunity to continue their secondary education in national and international schools offering the International Baccalaureate Diploma. In addition the students are well prepared for entry into secondary schools within State and National systems.

Early Learning Centre

We welcome children from the age of three and a half years old. The programme in our Early Learning Centre is inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy. The image of the child is central to this philosophy - a child who is curious full of wonder rich in resources able to construct and co-construct his or her own learning. Teachers and students discover together the joy of learning.

Our International Students

The internationalisation of education enriches the life of St Andrew’s School by promoting an exchange of ideas and strengthening cultural understanding. St Andrew’s School has an established programme for international students aged from 9 – 13 years registered with CRICOS (Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students). Our focus rests on an immersion English programme that embeds learning in all curriculum areas. Students may join the School community for periods between one month and one year.
