Early Years: Prep – Year 3

Teachers in the Early Years Phase of Learning ensure all students are provided with multiple opportunities to demonstrate their knowledge through both the formal (explicit) curriculum which includes the planned taught and assessed learning of the students and the informal (implicit) curriculum inherent in the relationships interactions practices processes systems and structures that surround learning. The development of literacy and numeracy skills is foundational to all learning and the achievement and progress of all students is tracked and monitored in these areas with ongoing communication between teachers support teachers and parents. As a learner-centred College the changing needs of students at different stages in their development are catered for effectively.

Junior Years: Years 4–6

The Junior Years of schooling at SCCC allow students to build on their relationships with friends staff and students from the three campuses. Academically the students are challenged to expand their skills and knowledge whilst staff are there to nurture individual abilities and foster educational success. As their confidence and talents grow students in the Junior Years are presented with opportunities to represent the College at swimming athletics and cross country carnivals as well as academic competitions instrumental concerts and Dance Fever training and competitions.

Middle Years: Years 7-9

A dynamic award-winning curriculum has been created to engage and challenge student perceptions perspectives and opinions. The curriculum framework consists of four worlds – personal environmental technological and social. The delivery of the curriculum takes into account contemporary research and pedagogy and reflects best Middle Years practices. In Year 9 students and respective staff embark on a journey of discovery – The Damascus Program incorporating a series of on-campus and off-campus activities which address such issues as spirituality environmental stewardship
Senior Years: Years 10-12

The final phase of learning at SCCC prepares students for entry into the world. Leadership is featured throughout Years 11 and 12 where students are encouraged to nominate for student leadership positions in the fields of mission culture environment communications and sport. Students in Years 10-12 take on mentoring roles within the College community and are given opportunities to involve themselves with the younger students through sporting interaction and development pastoral care and cultural activities. Academically students can plan their learning based on the Queensland Studies Authority Senior Syllabuses or chose to complete a combination of Authority and Authority-registered subjects which most suits their interests capabilities talents and career aspirations.

As a Christian learning community sCCC students come to know the Catholic tradition within the context of a multi-faith and multicultural world. Our beliefs are formulated from the common threads of the three founding orders – Josephite brigidine and De La Salle Orders. We believe God is present in every person moment event and time.
