The College Overview

Catholic Agricultural College Bindoon is a Year 7 to 12 co-educational Catholic College which provides for both Day and Residential students. The College specialises in providing opportunities for students to engage with Agriculture and Equine Hospitality and Services and Automotive and Industrial Skills while still providing core units to enable students to acquire their West Australian Certificate of Education. The College is situated in the picturesque Chittering Valley about a 1 hour drive north of Perth. The College is built on a tradition inspired by Blessed Edmund Rice and it belongs to a group of schools within the Edmund Rice Education Australia group (www.erea.edu.au). The College provides a quality education in a close-knit rural environment. Students come from rural and remote regions throughout Western Australia and the Perth metropolitan area.

Courses

The College provides a comprehensive academic and technical education with nationally recognised certificate courses across a range of fields and enables students to acquire their West Australian Certificate of Education. Students participate in a mix of theory learned in the classroom and practical application utilising the facilities available on the working farm including a fully equipped workshop the Edmund Equine Centre and the many facilities available within the Tuppin Trade Training Centre. Practical work is conducted in a safe environment under the supervision of trained educators. Examples of subjects offered include (not limited to): • Mathematics• English• Religious Education• Social Science• Physical Education• Art• Farm/Agriculture• Woodwork• Automotive Workshop• Hospitality• Equine• Animal Production Systems• Plant Production Systems• Human Biology• Design & TechnologyStudents starting from year 7 have options within their course structure to include Agricultural and/or Trade based subjects to help them identify which pathways might best suit them and to prepare them for year 11 and 12 and ultimately graduation. The Tuppin Trade Training Centre prepares students to be ‘work ready’ upon leaving the College. It offers wide range of Certificate programs including: Certificate I in Rural OperationsCertificate I in HospitalityCertificate I in AutomotiveCertificate I in EngineeringCertificate II in AgricultureCertificate II in Wool HandlingCertificate II in Agriculture (Horse Breeding)Certificate II in Equine IndustryCertificate II in HospitalityMany of these courses allow students to be part way through their apprenticeships at the completion of year 12. Boarding/Residential Care

Our residential care is friendly comfortable and affordable with separate boarding houses for young women and young men. Full and weekday boarding is provided . The residential supervisors provide high quality care and personal attention to each boarder to help them settle in and feel at home.
