The approach of Churchie to Personal and Social Development for Lifelong Learning is encapsulated in the phrase the 'making of men' as Churchie aspires to develop young men of character to lead and serve their community through a learning environment that aids their intellectual spiritual moral and personal growth. This approach is based on Churchie Anglican Grammar School's four tenets of scholastic attainment spiritual awareness personal growth and community service.
Facilities
Churchie's main campus is situated on 22 hectares of grounds where the original School House (of 1918) is still a central feature set among sympathetically-designed contemporary facilities. These include a state-of-the-art Science Centre incorporating 12 laboratories a112 seat lecture theatre and an astronomy observatory equipped with GPS-powered telescopes. Churchie also features a Business Studies Centre and computer laboratories for Information Technology languages design Art graphics film and Television and Music studies. The Advanced Technology Centre is equipped with LabVolt technology computer-aided design software and woodwork and engineering workshops. Other facilities at Churchie include the Canon Jones Memorial Chapel Hayward Arts Centre campbell gymnasium student Media Centre libraries music rooms and purpose-built classrooms in the Preparatory School.
Cultural Venues
Morris Hall is the setting for assemblies drama and musical productions as well as art exhibitions. It has a mezzanine floor incorporating audience seating and a gallery with a feature stained glass window. There is also a 60 seat auditorium in Lanskey the Year 7 block providing a forum for debating.
Sporting Venues
Churchie has 10 sports fields surrounding the main oval at its East Brisbane campus. There are also 10 tennis courts mand 50m swimming pools as well as basketball and volleyball courts. A state-of-the-art boathouse and rowing facility overlooking the Brisbane River is also available for students. The school offers a comprehensive array of sports facilities all located on-campus and within easy walking distance of each other to engage students in exercise competition learning and fun.
Boarding Facilities
Churchie's modern and purpose-built dormitories are conducive to academic study offering greater privacy wireless internet access in every cubicle and increased storage space to enable a clutter-free environment. The self-service Dining Hall is both spacious and contemporary and offers ample food choice ranging from full continental breakfasts or hot breakfasts to theme nights. The Director of Boarding oversees the boarding school assisted in each House by a Head of House assistant Head of House House Mother and resident tutors. Three Nursing Sisters rotate shifts to ensure the School Medical Centre is staffed 24 hours a day and a doctor is available to attend to boarding students’ health needs.
